Does your son or grandchild live in Canada or have Canadian citizenship? You should know about the Super Visa! This visa is specifically tailored for parents and grandparents who want to visit and stay in touch with their son or grandchild who has moved to reside permanently in Canada. Like any other visa, to obtain it you must submit relevant documents, and the Canadian Immigration Office carefully considers each case individually. The Super Visa can be granted for a period of up to ten years. It is important to note that even if your child or grandchild is a Canadian citizen but does not reside in Canada at the time, you have the right to use the visa for a stay of up to two years in the country. In comparison, a tourist visa allows a stay of up to six months.
To process the visa, you must meet several conditions:
- Family member support: You must be sponsored by your child or grandchild, who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents. They need to submit an invitation letter and provide proof of sufficient income.
- Medical insurance: You must purchase medical insurance for a period of at least one year, and it must have the coverage required by the Canadian government.
- Medical examinations: Sometimes you will need to undergo medical examinations, depending on your length of stay and your health condition.
- Application process: You must complete the appropriate forms and provide all required documents, including identification, family proofs, and financial proofs.
Who is eligible for the visa?
The Super Visa is intended for parents and grandparents who want to stay in touch with their family, and during their meeting with the approving officer, they must prove several things: they are not interested in residing permanently in Canada, they are connected to the country where they reside and do not wish to leave, they are coming to Canada for vacation purposes only, they are financially stable in their country, and they have received an invitation from a Canadian citizen. Once these issues are verified, it is very likely that the person will receive the required visa.
