IELTS Test
The IELTS (International English Language Testing System) test is a test designed to assess English language proficiency. It includes several parts. There are two types of tests – the General Training test, which is for people who need basic English skills as proof of their ability to adapt to a workplace or other environment where they will need to communicate at a basic level, and the Academic test – which is intended for people who want to study in English-speaking countries or undergo professional training. In addition, anyone who wishes to formally immigrate to English-speaking countries, including Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and Australia, must take the test, although there are exceptions and each country has different requirements regarding the test.
The test is divided into four parts:
- Reading: Includes various texts to which questions must be answered.
- Writing: Includes two tasks: the first is a description of a graph or information, and the second is writing an essay on a specific topic.
- Listening: Includes recordings of different speakers, and questions must be answered accordingly.
- Speaking: An interview with an examiner, in which various topics are discussed.
In the case of immigration to Canada – is the test required?
